R&D and Design Centers are corporate structures that increase the technology production capacity of businesses, create a sustainable innovation culture, and provide significant financial advantages. Thanks to this structure, firms can maximize state support while carrying out product and process development activities under a systematic organizational umbrella.

The advantages provided to businesses by the R&D and Design Center application within the scope of the Law No. 5746 on Supporting Research, Development, and Design Activities are as follows:

• Tax Deduction: 100% of expenditures incurred within the scope of project activities can be deducted from the corporate tax base.
• Insurance Premium Support: Half of the employer's share of the social security premium for R&D and design personnel is covered by the Ministry budget.
• Income Tax Withholding Support: An incentive of 95% is applied for PhD graduates and 90% for Master's graduates. For Basic Sciences graduates, the Master's rate is 95% and the Bachelor's rate is 90%.
• Stamp and Customs Duty Exemption: No stamp duty is collected from papers related to R&D and design activities; imported goods are exempt from customs duty and all types of funds.

However, the establishment of an R&D or Design Center does not consist only of incentives. Critical elements include correctly designing the organizational structure, configuring the project portfolio in accordance with the legislation, establishing the technical documentation system, and sustainable performance monitoring.
